Police arrested a boy Friday after he and several other youths allegedly stole a car in Winchester, fled from police and eventually crashed into a home in Stoneham. authorities said.
The boy, who is from Woburn, was released to his parents, Stoneham police said in a statement.
At least three other children fled the scene of the crash, which followed a chase through local streets and onto Interstate 93, police said.
On Friday afternoon, Stoneham police were alerted to a stolen white Audi in Winchester, the release said, and the vehicle was later involved in an attempted carjacking in Medford.
Medford police chased the car on I-93 north, but then lost contact with it, according to the release.
Around 5:30 p.m., a Stoneham officer spotted the car near the intersection of Main and South streets and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle did not stop, police said.
He drove a few blocks before crashing into a house on Franklin Street. The home sustained minor damage, according to the release.
At least three children ran away, the release said, but the officer took the child into custody after a foot chase.
Massachusetts State Police responded to the scene with two K-9s and their Air Wing helicopter to locate the other suspects, the release said.
