The Dixon Police Department will soon be getting new body and car cameras. According to Deputy Chief Matt Richards, everyone in the department is looking forward to getting this new technology.
Chief Steve Howell said we live in the age of the camera. This means that no matter where you go, there will be a camera somewhere recording you.
Howell said they have put new Motorola cameras in boxes that have the body camera and the car camera working together. There is a problem installing the cameras.
The department is in desperate need of new squad cars. These are getting harder to find and harder to get. Dixon has 4 2023 Tahoe’s at a dealership in Iowa. These will be delivered over the next month or so.
Howell said he didn’t want to spend the money installing the system on older vehicles and then spend more money when the new cars arrive.
