SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – A Salt Lake City School District The bus driver hit a parked car on the avenues while driving a student home.
According to a witness to the incident, they said in an email that it was concerning because the school district has reportedly sent letters to parents of students saying they don’t have enough qualified school bus drivers.
“Reporting an accident helps say that maybe this district doesn’t have enough qualified drivers,” the email said.
A member of the SLCSCD told ABC4 the school bus was on its way to a student’s home to drop them off when they hit the parked car.
They said the bus only clipped the front of the car and the rear damage was already there.
The student and the bus driver were reportedly not injured and the Salt Lake City Police Department was dispatched to the scene. The father came and picked up the student to take him home while the bus driver spoke with the police.
According to the SLCSCD representative, the driver was not cited, and the crash remains under investigation.
