Marc Bland, director of diversity at S&P Global Mobility, says a number of factors explain Buick’s popularity among women. For example, GM has an all-female retail network with female dealer managers and department managers. GM CEO Mary Barra is also popular with shoppers and has made safety a priority at the automaker, something that has resonated with female customers. Also, Buick’s lineup consists solely of compact and mid-size SUVs.
