The 2023 Canadian International Auto Show wrapped up a few days ago and among the most interesting cars on display was a 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 police cruiser.
The mid-engined supercar was exposed by the Ontario Provincial Police OPP’s Highway Safety Division, and while it initially slipped under our radar, we recently came across a series of tweets showing the car in its entirety.
Watch: This is what happens when a 2023 Corvette Z06 goes up against a real supercar
A handful of alterations make the car stand out from a typical Corvette Z06. Most notable is the black and white paint scheme that mimics the look of other cars in the Ontario Provincial Police fleet. It also features “Police” decals on the front and rear panels, while small “3-088” decals are found on the doors. The 3 represents Dale Earnhardt’s number while the 88 is Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s number.

Before you get too excited about the idea of police in Canada chasing criminals in the mid-engined supercar, it’s worth noting that this Z06 was used purely for promotional purposes at the motor show with the aim of helping the police force to recruit emerging officers. We have no doubt that it attracted a lot of auto show attendees and maybe some of them started thinking about ways to serve the community.
We suspect that the Corvette itself was loaned to the police by a local Chevrolet dealer for the duration of the show or may have been loaned by its owner.
