Aaron Love’s inaugural season for the Blanchard Racing Team (BRT) in the Supercars Super2 series will be under the banner of PETRONAS Lubricants, a brand synonymous with on-track success.
Since 2018, CoolDrive Auto Parts has partnered with PETRONAS Lubricants to supply leading products to Australian workshops, with the full range including diverse vehicle coverage and various pack sizes.
The PETRONAS Syntium offering draws on 28 years of technical experience gained in Formula 1, culminating in the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team claiming eight constructors’ titles and seven drivers’ championships since 2014. According to the company, PETRONAS Syntium with CoolTech+ technology maximizes efficiency by controlling engine-damaging heat to better protect critical engine parts, reducing fuel consumption and emissions for a cleaner, more sustainable engine.
A product of Formula 4 and the Porsche Motorsport ladder, Love, meanwhile, proved to be a revelation in the 2022 Carrera Australian Cup, finishing second in the final standings with 12 wins from 17 races, despite having missed two events with conflicting overseas racing commitments.
Love will drive the Ford Mustang that BRT has used for the past two seasons at the top level of the sport. However, the unveiling of the hot new livery brings its Supercars debut one step closer, he says. “I’m really excited for the season to start early and it’s definitely going to be a year where we’re all going to give it 110 percent,” Love said.
“We have a new car for Super2 and the field is very deep with many of the drivers already having good experience in these cars, so it will be difficult, but with BRT as the team I know we are well prepared.
“Having the support of PETRONAS Lubricants during the year is certainly a pleasure and something very interesting for the team and me, especially when we know their history and the success they have had at the international level in motorsport,” added Love.
The PETRONAS Lubricants livery is reminiscent of the hues worn by BRT co-principal Tim Blanchard during wildcard appearances in the 2019 Supercars Championship.
“We are delighted to welcome Aaron and PETRONAS Lubricants to BRT for 2023. We are excited to launch our Super 2 program with a rising star in Aaron, supported by a brand known as PETRONAS Lubricants. This is a important step for BRT and we are looking forward to what we can achieve this year,” said Blanchard.
For PETRONAS Lubricants, the decision to partner with a rising star like Love was an easy one.
“PETRONAS Lubricants is really excited to participate in the Super2 season as the naming sponsor of the BRT Racing Super2 car. This involvement with the Supercars series in Australia is a natural progression from the long-term involvement PETRONAS Lubricants has had with racing in engine worldwide. Having a great young driver like Aaron Love on board is great and we are confident that this year he will carry his success to the Carrerra Cup in 2022 in the Super2 series,” said Amarpreet Singh Ahuja, CEO of PETRONAS Lubricants International Australia Pty Ltd
The Super2 season kicks off at the Newcastle 500 on March 10-12, before traveling west to Perth, then Townsville, Sandown, Bathurst and Adelaide.
It’s been a busy offseason for the entire BRT, with the team not only expanding to two cars, but also taking on the in-house build of the team’s first Gen3 Ford Mustang.
The new build was recently debuted by Blanchard and fellow 2023 team recruit Todd Hazelwood at Winton Motor Raceway, becoming the first of the new 25-car fleet to hit the track.
