Its PS VR2 version is just days away.
After the upcoming launch of PlayStation VR2, Gran Turismo 7 will receive a free update, which will make the game fully playable in virtual reality, however, the studio’s CEO recently said that the update will not only add a new way to play PS VR2 owners, but will also add new content for all Gran Turismo 7 players.
Kazunori Yamauchi, studio head of longtime Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital, tweeted the image as seen below, clearly showing four new cars that will be added to the game. These cars will no doubt be part of the PS VR2 update as it is known to arrive “next week”.
The silhouettes aren’t the easiest to tell apart, but some die-hard fans have already drawn their conclusions. Take this with a grain of salt, of course, as it hasn’t been confirmed yet, but the consensus on Reddit is as follows; The car in the back is a Citroën DS, the one on the right is possibly a vintage Porsche 911 Carrera RS, and the one on the lower left is a Honda RA271 (although I could be another Honda or Ferrari F1 type car). The car in the middle doesn’t draw much speculation, with several users simply describing it as a ‘regular VGT’.
The PlayStation VR2 launches on February 22 and has a respectable line-up of titles that will be available at launch, one of which of course is Gran Turismo 7, which was released as a PlayStation exclusive in 2022.
PlayStation has confirmed that the title is fully playable on PS VR2, without compromising any modes, tracks or cars. The only exception is split-screen support, which is obviously not possible with a headset that only one player can wear.
They’ve even added a new way to interact with your cars, through the so-called VR showroom. Accessible through the player’s garage, players will be able to get up close and personal with their cars, checking them out in a virtual reality space where they can move around and look around as if they were actually there.
