Graphene Manufacturing Group has announced “full and final approval” of its products under the Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS), an agency of the federal health department, which allows for a significant increase in production.
The Brisbane-based, Toronto-listed company said on Monday the approval covered coatings, automotive lubricants and the company’s graphene aluminum ion batteries and allowed total production of up to ten tonnes yearly of graphene powder.
Chief executive Craig Nicol said in a statement on Monday that the news would enable “the next phase of … commercial maturation to focus on development, commercialisation, sales and production”. [of] products
“This is one of the first nanomaterials approved under the AICIS regulations which came into force on 1 July 2020 with significant revised nanomaterial chemical classification and introduction changes from the previous regulatory scheme and is a merit for GMG’s technical staff to achieve this approval.”
The approval covers sales of THERMAL-XR and G LUBRICANT to industrial customers in Australia and countries where no further international approvals are required. Previously, smaller volumes were only allowed to a restricted list of customers.
In addition to the production limit of 10 tpa of graphene powder, the conditions include products that are used in a professional environment (except for batteries that can also be sold directly to end consumers), an unspecified maximum percentage is allowed for each product type and environmental compliance. requirements
