GILES COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a single vehicle crash that occurred Saturday morning, February 11th.
The vehicle was being pursued by the Giles County Sheriff’s Office before it crashed.
The car, a 1998 Chevrolet Prizm, was traveling west on Route 460 about a half mile west of Route 61 at a high rate of speed when it went off the right side of the road, struck a ditch and he overturned
As a result of the impact, the vehicle ran off the left side of the road, struck a guardrail, rolled down the hillside and came to rest on the shoulder of the eastbound lanes of Route 460.
The driver, Rebel Hodges, 35, was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle. He died at the scene. The passenger, Shaddai Boyer, 33, was wearing a seat belt during the crash and was transported for treatment of serious injuries.
VSP says no police made contact with the vehicle.
