Recently, a puppy from Arizona found itself under heavy pressure, but thanks to the diligent work of rescuers, it was luckily extracted from its unusual hiding place unharmed.
The puppy named Gracie, just 14 weeks old, had recently tried to escape from two larger dogs that were chasing her on February 1, according to a Facebook post by the Arizona Humane Society (AHS).
The appalling situation provoked her”[wedging] his way on top of the rear axle of a car’s undercarriage” and was too scared to get out.
The organization sent emergency technician Dan McGrath to help after reports of the puppy’s plight, according to 12 News in Mesa, Arizona.
McGrath managed to tempt the animal “with some wet food and a lot of patience,” and the grateful pup paid her back “immediately with roots,” the Arizona Humane Society said.
After her rescue, the 12-pound Parson Russell Terrier mix was checked by the vet and found to be in good health and “no scratches.” Gracie was given basic care, including spay surgery, vaccinations and a microchip, the organization said.
He is now available for adoption at the Humane Society’s South Mountain campus.

The organization noted that the dog is just one of more than 7,400 sick and injured animals rescued by its Animal Emergency Medical Technician program in the past year alone, as well as one of nearly 18,000 companion animals that AHS cares for every year.
