According to a Rigzone article published late last year, growing industry awareness of the risks associated with humans working in some high-risk areas of the oil and gas industry is likely to the volume of robotics use cases is growing rapidly.
Rigzone’s report cites world-renowned data and analytics company GlobalData, which said late last year that robots will be the “growth engine” of the oil and gas industry in the period next. Rigzone quotes GlobalData oil and gas analyst Anson Fernandes as saying in a statement that “the volume of robotics use cases in the oil and gas industry is expected to grow rapidly, in tow of digitization”. According to the statement attributed to Fernandes, and sent to Rigzone, “Industrial robots with analytical support of digital technologies are expected to become the mainstay of the oil and gas industry, especially in the upstream sector, where safety concerns of staff and operational security increase.”.
