Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 and Eni have signed an agreement aimed at supporting the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
Eni said in a statement that sport is a universal language and a meeting point between different cultures, a tool for social integration and a symbol of passion and perseverance to achieve goals.
“The Olympic and Paralympic Games are the highest expressions of sport and its values, and Eni has chosen to support them, recognizing its strategic role for all of Italy and sharing its pluralistic vision, focused on diversity and inclusion,” the company said.
Eni aims to be the leader of the energy transition and has set itself the goal of achieving net zero GHG emissions from industrial processes and products by 2050 through a detailed decarbonisation strategy. Eni already offers a variety of decarbonized products, services and solutions that the company will make available to the Foundation.
With a sustainability perspective, the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will use 93% of existing facilities and will be a close to gender-balanced edition, with a record number of women’s events.
All these values are synergistic with those of Eni which, through this association with the biggest event organized by Italy in the next 20 years, wants to confirm its commitment to the future of the country and to a more sustainable energy system , through a fair transition. that creates long-term value and allows everyone access to reliable and cleaner energy, thus contributing to greater environmental protection.
“The 2026 Winter Olympics, three years away, already present several firsts and they are all in line with the values we are inspired by. From the circular economy, which inspires the decision to mostly reuse existing spaces, to the use of our biofuels and our approach to diversity and gender inclusion. Our support will be aimed at making the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games more sustainable,” said Giuseppe Ricci, Eni’s Energy Evolution Operations Director.”
“We are delighted that a player like Eni has decided to accompany the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation in accepting the ambitious challenge of organizing an impeccable edition of the Games. Three years from February 6, 2026, the day of the opening of the Olympic Games, here is another valuable addition to our team and a boost of energy on the way to an event that will put us at the center of the world’s attention”, said Giovanni Malagò, President of the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation and CONI .
For Andrea Varnier, general director of the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation: “Having a partner like Eni by our side represents, for the Organizing Committee and for the whole country, a testimony to the great interest and anticipation felt by all Italians for the upcoming Games “.
