SAN ANTONIO – The search is on for a missing driver in Seguin after officials say a car went off the freeway and into the river.
Witnesses told police that around 2 a.m. Thursday, a driver on westbound I-10 was seen going off a bridge and into the Guadalupe River.
The Seguin Fire Department brought a boat to help search the water where officers believe they may have seen bubbles in the water, indicating where the car was.
They were able to locate the car, about two and a half feet under water.
The Seguin Fire Battalion Chief says the area will be closed while they search for the driver of that car, who they believe is still inside the car.
Officials say the recovery could take several hours.
Police say the initial call came in about a red vehicle driving erratically on I-10 East in the direction of Seguin.
No other injuries were reported.
This is a developing story.
