Emerging helium and natural gas producer Renergen’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in the Free State has resumed operations following repairs to a faulty drive oil system, which recently causing the company to take the decision to stop operations to protect the helium and nitrogen modules. .
Since the repair work was carried out, the system had been thoroughly tested and the LNG system was now operational and producing LNG, Renergen confirmed on 15 November.
Commercial deliveries to the company’s customers will begin later this week.
The operations team will now focus on the remaining modules to enable the helium liquefaction module to be activated.
The helium separation and recovery module provided high levels of confidence with recovery exceeding design parameters, Renergen said.
