State-owned Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for a suitable terminal operator to finance, refurbish, operate, maintain and transfer a specialist gas bulk liquid terminal liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for a period of 25-year concession at the Port of Durban.
“The issuance of the RFP will help TNPA respond to potential investors in the LPG industry,” he says.
The responses to the bids are for the exclusive right to complete the financing, renovation, acquisition of terminal equipment, operation, maintenance and transfer of the facility to TNPA after the concession period, TNPA added.
“The process demonstrates our commitment to emissions reduction and decarbonisation which has triggered the move towards sustainable and environmentally friendly energy sources,” said the Port Manager of Transnet Port of Durban. Mpumi Dweba-Kwetana.
The documents can be accessed from the National Treasury’s electronic tender portal and/or the Transnet website. An information session has been scheduled for January 19.
